Level Up Your Figures

Taking the time to create really nice figures in your work is a total game-changer.

Great figures:

• Are information-dense, but not cluttered. It’s a fine line :)
• Break away from the boring default styles from Matplotlib or other libraries.
• Are mindful of colors, especially for color-blind readers. I prefer gray-scale, when possible
• Use up just the right amount of space in a paper to deliver a message.
• Always have a caption that explains the key takeaway. If you don’t have anything interesting to say about it, you might not need the figure!
• Good sense. In Brazil we say you’re either born with it or you’ll die without. In any case, here are some great places to get inspired:
