Dynamic Systems Modeling

Undergraduate course (taught every semester, in Portuguese), ENG1718 - MODELAGEM SISTEMAS DINAMICOS, 2018

Gather the concepts and tools for simulating multiphysics integrated systems using classical methods and the language of Bond Graphs.

The goals of the course are

  • State the concepts, procedures and tools for modeling and analysis of dynamic systems
  • Apply them to domains such as mechanical, electrical, fluid, and thermal
  • Get proficient with the Bond Graph modeling paradigm

  • Motivation and use-cases
  • Simulation tools (MATLAB and Simulink)
  • Standard representations of dynamic systems
  • Analysis of dynamic systems

Application to typical

  • Mechanical
  • Electrical
  • Electromechanical
  • Fluid
  • Thermal systems and their interactions (such as electromechanical and hydromechanical)

Bond Graphs

  • Modeling of integrated systems
  • Automatic state equations derivation
  • Modularity and model validation

The evaluation is composed of

  • Homework assignments (computational exercises)
  • Written exam
